I can't quite fathom that three weeks have gone by since my last post. I've started a couple but have struggled to find the time to finish them off. Work, training, family, and friends are my good excuses for the lack of writing, but I'm determined to get back to the pen and stick with it.
Base training has been going well, especially as what winter we had here in NY fades to a distant memory. With longer days and rising temperatures I am beginning to feel more in my element (it'll be some time before I truly get used to the cold). Over the last couple of weeks I've had the chance for my rubber tires to meet the road (as opposed to the metal flywheel on my trainer to which they'd become accustomed) and have explored a variety of new running routes.
My first ride, while a nice retreat from riding in place was most certainly a disaster. Let's just say I don't yet know where to find the best Long Island routes. I'll detail my harrowing cycling experience over the weekend and try to catch up on some delayed posts.
